What A Tragedy!

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

ferry.jpg

I was just chatting with my friend earlier and I was so devastated to know about the loss of hundreds of lives in the princess of the stars ship. He told me it was from Manila heading to Cebu and was hit by a typhoon! Only 70 has been rescued and survived the tragedy! I am always scared whenever I ride a boat. The thought that I don’t know how to swim makes me fear for my life whenever we are in the middle of the ocean or lake! I know that each of us has our own destiny and I pray for those departed souls. May they find peace!

Thank God, She’s Been Freed!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

We have this popular news anchor in the Philippines, Ces Drilon who has been kidnapped and ransomed for 20 million pesos! When I first knew about it, I was really shocked and was so scared for her dear life. I was thinking, what if they wouldn’t give any ransom money? What would happen to her? I know how violent and evil those who kidnap people there and I was hoping she could be released unharmed. Thank God, she was! Just founding out that she’s okay, makes me feel better coz I was really affected by that news, really! Coz I’ve been watching her in television since I was little! Hopefully, I wouldn’t hear any bad news like that ever!

So Long Tim!

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I’m sure most of you know about the sudden death of Tim Russert. I was shocked when hubby got home from work and telling me we should watch the news coz Tim just died…I was like “Tim Russert?” Yes! We know the guy from the show…”Meet The Press”. Although, I don’t like watching that since it just talks about politics and I’m not into that… I got used of hubby watching every Sunday and we always use the line “If it’s Sunday…It’s Meet The Press!” I always like that line…hehehe! So sad that a decent guy like him who is passionate about what he does just leave us like that! I’m sure he got tons of people who dearly loved him and idolized him. In fact, as we’ve watched on the tribute for him…a lot of anchorman have been touched and inspired by Tim. He is one heck of a guy from how I’ve seen him in television, asking tough and intelligent questions but he delivered it in a nice way. He makes sure that the main focus is the question itself and not by how he delivered it or about him. That’s what I like about Tim! Sharp, intelligent, smart, decent and likable. Just couldn’t believe that I won’t ever see him again in Meet the Press, Today Show {in tv overall}…so long Time…rest in peace!

Tragic Death of A Young Actor

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

heath.jpgLast night while playing online, hubby asked me if I know Heath Ledger and I replied “Well, of course! Why?” He then responded that he’s dead and I was like…What???!!! I know him since I first saw his funky, quiet, mysterious and engaging character in “10 Things I Hate About You” back in 1999 and after that, I always admired his great talent in acting! Nominated at the Oscar’s for his dramatic role in BrokeBack Mountain, I knew he could do more BIG movies but I couldn’t believe that his life will end so soon! How sad, he’s only 28 and I totally like him for being such a low profile even after being famous. He left a 2yr old daughter and a promising career. Not sure yet of what’s the reason of his death but they found sleeping pills beside him. It might be an overdose of pills or who knows what…Just couldn’t believe until now that this young actor whom I totally fell in love with in “10 Things I hate About You” and was fascinated in “Casanova” is now gone…

Massacre At The Mall

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

artwatkinsschool.jpgI was awaken this morning with a horrible news “Mall Madman” and it just caught my ears. We have our tv in the bedroom and it’s on from night til morning, always in news channel. By the time I heard this story, I saw a picture of that young man in the screen. He is just 19years of age and was even walking at the mall calmly with a big gun and the unexpected happened. Started shooting at the shoppers in Van Maur, 8 was dead, several were wounded! Same as all the shootings we’ve heard before, the gunman killed himself too! This guy was just fired from his job at Mcdonalds and was dumped by his girlfriend plus the fact that he has run into some troubles before and taking anti depressant pills, that is really a recipe for disaster! What scares me most is the fact that I am always at the mall. It’s one place where me and my kids could enjoy when it’s too cold to go out in a park or somewhere else. So sad for those family who lost their loved ones…I am hoping this time, they’ll have metal detectors in their front doors or security just like in the Philippines. You always see securities in the front door and you have to give your purses or bags to them for check in. It might be an inconvenience for others but it’s worth it for the sake of everybody inside the mall. Good thing in my country, there’s only at least 2 main doors while here, every store has their own entrance so it’s hard to keep track of people coming inside the stores!
