Rellenong Bangus!

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

rellenong_bangus.JPGBangus or Milkfish is my favorite kind of fish! Growing up near the ocean, we don’t miss a fish in our table everyday and quite honestly, it makes me sick and tired of fish! BUT once I moved in with hubby here, I couldn’t believe how much I miss it! A LOT! Yeah - you could purchase one at the store but aside from being expensive, it’s not fresh - at all! Well, I settle for the frozen ones at Filipino or Asian store and that marinated one just hit my taste buds! Even the whole milkfish deep fried, the tummy part, oh so yummy! Last weekend my friend served a rellenong bangus but it was one of those frozen ones, I still like it! So, I bought one too and having it for lunch today!

Simple Chicken Tacos

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

One of my favorite food is Mexican! Although, most of it are spicy, some I can pretty much handle the hotness. The common Mexican food I make is Chicken Taco! It’s really quite simple…

Ingredients:

soft/hard shell tacos
cubed skinless boneless chicken
taco mix
chopped lettuce, onions, tomatoes
can of corn
grated taco cheese

Preparation:

Follow box instruction from the taco shells. Fry chicken until no longer brown, add taco mix and water. Cook until all the liquid is absorbed by chicken. Place chicken, lettuce, corn, onion and cheese on top!

That’s pretty much I do and my family cleans their plate every time I served them with this!

Steamy Hot Soup!

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

soup.jpgGoing back to my hometown, I requested so many Filipino food that I still miss a bunch of it! I try to ask my father to cook me something that I cannot make myself. He is such a good cook and not just because he is my father {to tell u the truth, I like his cooking better than my moms}, he makes it really tasty that I often wonder how many teaspoons of MSG he put in, LoL! That one right there is included in my favorites! That’s what you call “nilagang baka” - beef soup with veggies!

Going For Healthy Snack Bars!

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

It seems like it’s the trend nowadays for healthy snack bars or high protein bars. Those are the kind of food that is way better than high calorie snacks and doesn’t even have any nutrition at all! With so many items on the shelves nowadays, you might really be confused of which one to choose or if it’s better than the other! If you want to stay fit but still not give up any yummy food, there’s Promax that offers all natural energy bar!

70cal-cookies-img.jpg

You might think this can spoil your lunch or dinner but think twice! It doesn’t! It’s the best choice when you are hungry but not adding pounds on your weight and above all…it even taste really good! Can you imagine not having to sacrifice the taste but still limiting your calories intake? That’s hard to find! So, you better try one of their snack bars now and see for yourself! If you want a nutritious snack with not a lot of calories, only 70 calories, that’s all you get for a one Promax snack bar!!!

Good Place to Eat in Davao

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

There’s so many good food, restos and buffet place in Davao City and one of them is Buffet Palace! It’s always nice sitting down hungry and right away you can pick your food! With a variety of soup, appetizers, main course and dessert…what more could you ask for?! Although drinks aren’t included, it’s worth paying 250pesos per person. Almost similar to all buffet here but still I like the choices there. Well, you can pretty much get tired of it if you have it all the time so, I guess once in a while, it’s nice to try buffet places when you are really hungry! LoL! More restos to tell on my coming entries! This ones at Matina Branch…

Pinoy Spag

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

3.jpgI may have spaghetti here at home everyday since it’s very easy to make with the sauce in a jar that you can just pour into a bowl of noodles…but I always long for the spaghetti taste that I grew up with! That’s what I really like! Yeah sure I can make that here but it’s not even close to what I can get from the Philippine’s like at Jollibee or Greenwich. Those 2 make a great pinoy spag!

Molly’s Feast!

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

That’s what we had earlier for dinner along with cashew chicken with brown rice and hot tea! For starters, lettuce chicken wrap {family’s fave appetizer} at Molly Woo’s and now we will soon sleep with a full belly! Well,we walked it off a li’l bit inside the mall and also stopped by at a furniture place. Hubby really liked that veggie choice he had and I do too! When I checked out their website, I didn’t expect they’ll give away the recipe and I think I can make this easily…

The Melting Pot

blog2.jpg

It’s my 1st time to try out this restaurant! I’ve heard about this place but was never really a fan of fondue except if it’s a chocolate fondue! Who doesn’t like chocolate?hehehe! Anyways, I checked their website before we left so, I can have an idea what to order just in case my friends have never been there before too! Fortunately, Shiela knows all their food {well, she definitely have eaten on most restaurants I’ve known and yet she’s still so slim!} Going back to their food…we started out with a cheese fondue and it comes with cubed bread, veggies and apples. That melted cheese makes everything tasty! I tell yah!

Next…a boiling veggie broth was in front of us! We chose court buillon for our main course where we could cook fish, shrimp, chicken and beef along with condiments and veggies.

Ok, I was so looking forward to the chocolate fondue but all of us doesn’t have any space in our tummy for dessert anymore! I wanted to try it but maybe some other time! Overall, a fun and unique dining experience and I’d definitely go back there, maybe not soon. I gotta stop eating out, I am getting so BIG na…hehehe!

A Taste of India!

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

mango-copy.jpgFrom our dinner last night, I could still remember the tasty and oh so sweet mango shake! The first time I tasted India cuisine, about 5yrs ago during hubby’s business trip and boy, I couldn’t stand the smell and was a bit hesitant to taste their food. As I took a couple of bites, I easily acquired its taste and after that, my mind was open for all the other cuisine! I love trying out new food and restaurants. Now you know why I’m starting to have a double chin, hehehe! With a taste of India, it made our night so interesting and out of the ordinary! I was laughing out loud here when my friend, Lorena, told me something really funny! It always cracks me up whenever she throws a silly comment or just being plain funny! As you can see, I’m working on my plate here and if only I got more space in my tummy, I’d go for more! Maybe next time…hehehe!

Another Italian Resto!

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

content2.jpgOne of my fave dishes is Italian and after trying Bravo and Marconi, I headed out for something new to my taste…Brio Tuscan Grille! The place has caught my attention with its unique atmosphere kinda like bringing the outdoors in since they are located here inside the mall. The villa-like setting makes you feel like you are at some European place and with the nice arches and classy leather chairs, you are in for a fine dining! The menu looks terrific although kinda pricey! Me and my friend tried their shrimp and lobster pasta which was okay for me coz I was craving for more lobster!LoL! Compared to all the Italian restos I’ve been to, this is my top choice when it comes to choosing a nice atmosphere. As for the food, I’d choose Marconi!

Palabok for Snacks

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

img_4481-copy.jpgI was thinking of something I can make for snack time and when I looked at our pantry, I found a  kit that includes noodles and powder for sauce . So, there! I was able to cook as somewhat close enough to what you can get in making that from scratch! I added a few cut up boiled eggs and that’s what my Katie loves to eat. Just missing some chicharon {pork rinds} but since we don’t eat red meat, I didn’t buy any of that. My daughter enjoyed our snack which I really didn’t expect  at all!

Bountiful Meal

Monday, March 24th, 2008

img_4422-copy.jpgThis is what we had yesterday with the hard work of my friend, Sonia. She is one awesome cook who never runs out of ideas to prepare. Even after Church, she was able to come up with a lot of recipes like the ranch chicken strips that she baked and even her chicken drumsticks with a secret marinade was oh so yummy! Her mung beans soup full of veggies without meat is a hit and the pancit that is oh so tasty! I always love her cooking as well as hubby and as for me and Lorena, we are only good at buying ready made food like pie, strawberry parfait, potato salad and macaroni salad, hehehe!
