Canon EOS

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

canon.jpgI’m so ready to get a new digital camera and this time I’m going with Canon Rebel Xti. It might not be lightweight and quite complicated even just looking at it in the picture but I’ve heard great reviews and seen the photo, I’m quite satisfied…as a matter of fact it’s really a BIG difference from all the pictures I had! So, I am sure my money would be worth it! It’s specifications and features are quite fascinating and might be overwhelming for someone like me who is used to the point and shoot cameras! The only thing that really strikes me most of this camera, is it’s MP of 10.1! For $803.00 for a kit that includes 18-55mm EF-S Lens and 2GB flash card, I’d go for it! Only at B&H Photo though…

Old Man’s Cave

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Since it was father’s day, I brought hubby to his favorite hiking place which is Old Man’s Cave! You’d surely enjoy the beautiful park with formation of rocks that was there for more than 100 years! Caves that are not the same like others, waterfalls that brings calmness and tranquility and hiking trails that will leave you all satisfied with the beauty of nature! Everything is there to see and enjoy when it comes to nature hiking! It’s truly a great way to enjoy nature and take a good long or even short hike and the best part…it’s FREE!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • Marinade:
  • 2 teaspoons light soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
  • 1/4 teaspoon sesame seed oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • Sauce:
  • 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 3/4 teaspoon sugar
  • Other:
  • 1/2 pound Chinese noodles (thin or thick noodles are fine)
  • 1 cup shredded carrots (about 1 carrot)
  • 1 unce can straw mushrooms
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable or peanut oil for stir-frying, or as needed
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Salt and pepper to taste, if desired

PREPARATION:

Cut the chicken into thin strips about 2 inches long. (It’s easiest to do this if the chicken is slightly frozen). Add the light soy sauce, rice wine or sherry, sesame oil and the cornstarch. Marinate the chicken for 20 minutes. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the other ingredients: Combine the sauce ingredients in a bowl and set aside.Cook the noodles in boiling water until they are cooked al dente (tender but still firm).

This will take about 3 minutes for fresh noodles, and 4 - 5 minutes for dried noodles. Drain, rinse with cold water, and drain again.Cut the carrot into thin strips to match the chicken. Rinse the straw mushrooms under running water to remove any “tinny” taste. Drain thoroughly.Heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium high to high heat. Add the garlic, stir-fry for a few seconds until aromatic, then add the chicken. Stir-fry the chicken until it changes color and is 80 percent cooked. (If you need more oil, try adding 1 tablespoon water). Remove the chicken and clean out the wok.Heat 2 tablespoons oil and the salt in the wok. Add the carrots and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 1 minute, then add the chicken. Add the noodles, stirring to mix in with the other ingredients. Add the sauce into the wok, mixing with the other ingredients.Cook for 2 more minutes. Taste and add salt or pepper if desired. Serve hot.

Kokosing Gap Trail

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

One of the nicest bike trail I’ve ever been to is the Kokosing Gap Trail at Mt. Vernon! To tell yah, I don’t really do cycling. I just know how to drive a bicycle! My friend Lisa has invited us to follow this trail and so we went with our bicycles with seats for kids behind! It was about 16 miles and what’s cool about it, there are places you can stop by to catch your breath a little bit! There’s even nice bridges to check out and the long trail offers great scenery to entertain your eyes! The pave was well done and traffic is not bad at all. There might be joggers often times but most of the time it’s just for bicycles! If you are a big fan of cycling and happens to be at Mt. Vernon, visit Kokosing Gap Trail and I give this 4 star for a great biking trail!

Happy Bday “Ate”

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I have 3 siblings in the family but only have one sister who is a year older than me. In fact, I always tease her that I wouldn’t call her “ate” means elder sis if I have my bday on May since we will have the same age (not quite) but still I can claim we are same age! She is special to me specially that she’ve been a great mentor, company, friend and overall a big sister! She’s not always supportive on everything I do but at least she’s still around to help me out everytime I needed her help! So, for my sister…here’s a scrap to show you how you mean to me!
